I downloaded MS VC+ redist 2012, both versions. When I screen shotted it, it just shows a black screen as well.
The game is there and functioning but not showing up on my screen. I have even gotten to the options menu and can hear that specific music. I can launch the game in a windowed screen (thanks John), I can hear the music, I can even move around the title screen and select options.
